Partant de différents objets de controverses, les auteurs de ce numéro se sont efforcés de mettre l’accent sur les intentions d'une éducation par les controverses, les dispositifs pédagogiques associés et leurs effets en termes d’apprentissage sur différents publics concernés. Les dispositifs mobilisés présupposent qu’un débat ou une enquête portant sur la complexité d’une controverse conduiront les apprenants à une conscientisation critique et réflexive, voire un engagement moral et politique. Les recherches, conceptualisations et retours d’expériences regroupés dans ce numéro permettent donc de débattre des engagements pédagogiques et des postures éducatives qui favoriseraient une citoyenneté scientifique et politique. Plus largement, l'ensemble nous invite à explorer les liens entre éducation par les controverses et éducation au politique.
